Meet the Founder
Four Paws Inn, established in 2015, has become a sanctuary where we rescue, foster, and provide top of the line pet services to pet parents who are looking to better their dog’s livelihood. In 2024, our family-run business is expanding their reach to include a dog shop, promoting clean and holistic care for all dogs while educating dog owners about pet health and wellness. This venture represents Samantha’s unwavering passion and dedication to animal welfare, fulfilling her lifelong soul mission to help and care for animals.
Samantha Sulse, Owner
About Sam
From a young age, Samantha has harbored a deep passion for animals. However, her journey took a creative turn as she grew older. With a love for art, Samantha pursued a career in photography, working for a renowned studio in Bergen County. During her tenure there, she photographed numerous weddings and school portraits.
After meeting her husband, they were blessed with two children, and her focus shifted entirely to them. She and her kids developed a love for visiting zoos, fostering a deep appreciation for animals at a young age. She focused on immersing themselves in countless animal books, making learning a fun and engaging experience.
When her children started school full-time, she found herself contemplating her next steps. Samantha decided to return to school and become a nurse, specializing in caring for children with Autism. Yet, something still felt incomplete. She reflected on her time when she would frequent the zoo, and realized her happiest moments were when she was surrounded by animals. This epiphany led her to volunteer at local animal shelters, where she found true fulfillment.
After a heartfelt discussion with her husband, Samantha decided to shift her career entirely to animal welfare. The goal became clear: to rescue and care for as many dogs as possible, recognizing their helpless and beautiful souls. This passion culminated in the founding of Four Paws Inn. Sam educated herself extensively, attending numerous courses to become a professional dog behaviorist and learning about the differences in all breeds.
One breed that particularly captivated her was the American Staffordshire Terrier. Our journey with Butler, an abandoned and terrified Staffy rescued from being abandoned and bound to a fence on the streets of New York, solidified her dedication. Butler became the Four Paws Inn mascot, joining Samanatha in evaluations and inspiring her mission. Even after his passing, Samantha has committed her work to rescuing and advocating for bully breeds, honoring and continuing Butler’s legacy.
